Frustration #6 – When the Past Won’t Let You Go

Happy Day Reader!

Let’s take a moment and breathe deep into something many of us deal with—Frustration number six: struggling to let go of the past.

You know that feeling… when you’ve moved forward in life, but your heart keeps revisiting old places. Maybe it’s the weight of something you wish you had done differently. Maybe it’s a wound that never fully healed. Or maybe it’s just the echo of voices that told you “you’ll never be enough.”

Whatever it is, I want you to know you’re not the only one wrestling with those lingering shadows. And more importantly, I want you to know this: God is not holding your past against you. He’s holding your future in His hands.

Here are three supportive strategies to help you begin to truly let go and walk in freedom:

1. Let Go of Guilt—God Already Forgave You Guilt will keep you locked in a version of yourself that no longer exists. If you’ve taken it to God, it’s already covered in grace.

1 John 1:9 says: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

God’s forgiveness isn’t delayed, complicated, or conditional. He wipes the slate clean the moment you ask. It’s time to stop punishing yourself for what God already paid for.

2. You Are Not Your Mistakes--Our past may shape us, but it doesn’t define us. We all fall short. But in Christ, we are made new—completely and beautifully.

2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

This verse isn’t just poetic. It’s power. It means you don’t have to carry who you used to be into who you’re becoming.

3. Trust That God Is Doing Something New-- Letting go doesn’t mean forgetting. It means releasing your grip so God can fill your hands with something better. He promises to do something new—right in the places where it once felt like all hope was gone.

Isaiah 43:18–19 says: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”

Reader, God is still writing your story—and this next chapter doesn’t require the baggage from the last.

You are not stuck. You are not broken beyond repair. You are healing, growing, and becoming everything God always intended. Don’t let the past keep you from the beauty of what’s ahead.

Happy Day Reader! I’ve been sitting at my computer praying and honestly—feeling frustrated. Waiting on answers, trying to figure out the next steps, and wondering if I’m missing something. Sound familiar? If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just plain tired of things not going how you expected, I want to invite you to breathe for a moment. I wrote a blog and recorded a video (a while ago!) on dealing with frustrations—and listening to it again today reminded me I’m not alone. And...

Happy Day Reader! There’s something beautiful about our everyday moments—the ones nobody sees or claps for. The way we push through tired mornings, wipe our tears, and keep showing up even when the world isn’t watching. We don’t need a perfect post or polished caption to prove we’re living well. Real life is deeper than what shows up on a screen. Social media doesn’t show the full story—and that’s okay. The images we scroll through are often edited, filtered, and framed for applause. But...

Happy Day Reader! Let’s pause and celebrate something beautiful—our laugh lines. You know, those gentle creases around our eyes and mouths that show up when joy breaks through. They aren’t flaws. They’re living proof that we’ve smiled through sorrow, laughed during late-night conversations, and found reasons to rejoice, even when life tried to dim our light. Our laugh lines are proof that joy lives here. These lines tell the story of the joy we refused to let go of. They’re the marks of...
